Mission: s2, E2: Insurrection on New Vulcan Colony
Location: Mess Hall
Timeline: MD001 1800 hrs

The USS Pioneer was heading to Deep Space 16, when Chelsea got a call from Spencer Wolfe. Apparently he wanted to know if she was available for dinner tonight.

She was not sure, if it was wise to continue to see the counselor of the ship. She liked him, but she kept wondering if she was being fair to Karina, her daughter.

"I plan on eating with Karina tonight." Chelsea pointed out to him. He still had not really met her daughter, he saw glimpses of her, but never really interacted with her.

“I don’t want to intrude,” Spenser replied. “But from what you have said about her I would like to meet her.”

Chelsea looked over to Kalina, they were holding hands. "Do you want to meet the man, that Mommy has been casually dating?" Chelsea asked Karina.

"Yes." Karina said, not really sure what to think, she had no point of reference, beyond dating her mom.

"Alright, she wants to meet you too. Where heading to the mess hall now, how long til you arrive?" Chelsea asked, a little nervous for the two of them to meet.

“I am on my way as well,” Spenser said quietly. “I will meet you there.” He was both excited and nervous. He wanted things to go well.”

It did not take very long for Chelsea and Karina to walk into the mess hall. Chelsea started to look for Spencer, as they headed to the buffet table, that Chef Miles had prepared.

Spenser walked in and looking around he saw Chelsea and Karina. He walked over and got in line behind them. “Hello.” He said in greeting.

"Hello." Chelsea, as she stood next to Karina. Her daughter was very silent. "Glad you join us tonight." She said, with a warm smile. They started to get served up. Brendan had outdone himself tonight.

“Thank you for allowing me to,” Spenser said with a warm smile. He was having difficulty on what to eat, everything looked so good. He finally went with the meatloaf.

"Karina this is Mister Wolfe, our ships counselor." Chelsea said, with a warm smile.

Karina was a little nervous, as she reached out her hand to shake his hand. "Nice to meet you Mister Wolfe." She said, a little timid. She was nervous.

“It is nice to meet you as well, Karina,” Spenser smiled, giving off a friendly greeting but not overly or in an uncomfortable way. “How do you like the ship so far?”

"It's okay, the other kids are nice." Karina said to him, she had idea what else to say.

“That’s good,” Spenser said in return. He looked from Chelsea to Karina. “Do you like to play games, like Uno?”

"That's mom's game, its okay I guess." Karina said, with a simple nod. She did not mind playing it.

Spenser looked over at Chelsea. “What were you two doing after dinner?”

"We like to keep our options open, right hunny." Chelsea said, with a wink towards the direction of Karina.

Spenser could tell they were close and that was as it should be. “Nothing wrong with that.” He took a drink. “What do you two for fun.”

"Ya no. Girl secrets." Chelsea said, with another wink. Then she went on. "What do you like to do?" Chelsea asked him, as she looked to Karina with a grin.

“I play all kinds of games from card games to checkers,” Spenser said with a smile. “I like video games and miniature golf and I like mystery stories.”

"How about a walk, and maybe a trip to the holodeck. I got a reservation. You are welcome to join us." Chelsea said, with a big grin on her face.

“I would like that,” Spenser nodded. “Thank you for inviting me.” He smiled then, glad to see things were going well.”

"Okay, but that will be after dinner. First we must eat." Chelsea said, as they found a table big enough for the three of them.

Spenser waited for them to sit down and took the seat next to Chelsea. He picked up his fork.” This looks really good.”

"Hard to go wrong with Meatloaf." Chelsea said with a big grin.

"Speak for yourself Momma. I need extra ketchup." Karina said. She really did not like meatloaf. She always had to drown it in ketchup.

“I can get some for you,” Spenser offered. “Do either of you need anything else?”

"I'm good." Chelsea said, thinking that was very nice of him.

"That's it. Thank you." Karina said. So far she thought he was a nice guy.

Spenser headed over and got some extra ketchup for Karina and while he was there he got some salt. Coming back to the table he placed the ketchup in front of Karina. “Is that enough?”

"oh ya." Karina said, as she tried to drench the ketchup. Her mother the ruiner of fun stopped her.

"In moderation sweetie." Chelsea said, as she took the extra ketchup away from Karina.

“I have a nephew,” Spenser said with a smile. “That wants barbecue sauce on everything he eats. Even eggs.”

"What's wrong with that?" Chelsea asked, with a big grin on her face. Not her personal favorite, but she did not mind kids with their unique culinary flavors.

“Not a thing if you really love barbeque sauce,” Spenser smiled. “I like it on meat but not my eggs.”

"Not even bacon?" Karina asked a little surprised by his sudden revelation. She did not think that was possible, not to like meat with your eggs.

“I love bacon,” Spenser replied. “And sausage as well. I meant I like barbecue on meat.”

"But those things, are all on eggs." Karina suggested to Spencer. She was curious to see his response to that.

Spenser was a little confused. “I eat meat with my eggs but I don’t eat barbecue with it.”

"I thought we changed the conversation to eggs." Karina said, a little confused.

Spenser laughed. “My bad.” He said as he shook his head and they finished their dinner.
