Mission: S1, E1: Uprising
Location: MD006 1700 hrs
Timeline: Mess Hall

Harley was a little early to meet Andrea for dinner. Seeing that she hadn't gotten there yet, he grabbed something to drink and sat at a table, waiting for her to get there. It had been a long day and he was looking forward to spending some time with her.

He thought back to his conversation with the captain earlier and his mind started to wander to the Klingons and he shook it off. Harley found it could be easy to get caught up in work even when off duty and he wanted to devote his evening to Andrea. Never had he thought he could care this much about someone.

Andrea walked into the mess hall. She could smell the sweet aroma of dinner. She noticed that Harley was already sitting at the table, before she went over to him, she walked mess hall line, and grabbed a plate of food. "Evening." She simply called out, with a big grin on her face.

“Hello,” Harley grinned back at her, getting up and getting in the line he got his dinner as well. He sat down by her and smiled. “I have been looking forward to seeing you all day!”

"Me too." Andrea said with a warm smile on her face. She had missed him too. She knew that today was a heavy paperwork type of day for the both of them.

“If it wasn’t for a meeting with the captain,” Harley said with a smile. “I would have been over run on the paperwork side of things.” His eyes met hers. “And your day?”

"Just a lot of paperwork, nothing to exciting." Andrea said, as she stared into his beautiful eyes.

Harley’s eyes met hers and he met her stare for a long moment and a smile crossed his face. “You keep looking at me like that and this may be the fastest dinner in history.”

"Now now, didn't your mother teach you. That you need to eat your food. Not wolf it down?" Andrea asked, in that same teasing voice of hers.

“She did,” Harley grinned. “I was a little bit of a wild child but eventually I learned my manners.” He was tempted to lean over and kiss her but knew he might not want to stop.

"Resisiting me huh." Andrea asked, as she noticed his hesitation. She decided to be a little devious, with her response. "Pitty could have fun. I suppose we should go now." Andrea said with a grin, being a little evil and completely naughty.

Harley blinked and then grinned. “I am more than happy to let my resistance to kiss you go as long as you are okay with the crew knowing about us.” His eyes lit up. “Or we could just be done and head on our way and finish what our eyes have started.”

"You really think, they do not know?" Andrea asked, with a big warm smile on her face. As she looked into his eyes.

“I think they are pretty certain,” Harley grinned. “But they are also waiting for us to give them a sure sign.” He looked at her. “Shall we satisfy their curiosity or make them suffer.”

"Depends, if you are big into PDA." Andrea said, with a grin on her face. As she left the choice in his hands.

Harley looked at her for a moment and leaned over and kissed her. A smile spread across his face. “I am big on not caring who knows I am crazy about you.”

Andrea returned his kiss, she too had a big smile on her face. She did not say something at first. She allowed the moment to sink in. After a few moments, she finally responded. "Wow, I could get use to that." She proclaimed to him.

Harley grinned at her. "I am with you on that." He kissed her again and then glanced at a table and smiled at her. "We will be the topic of conversation now." He took a drink. "I have a question for you, before I forget."

"I hope not, it would be a good career move, to openly spreed gossip. If anything, they will talk in the shadows." Andrea pointed out to Harley.

“That is what I meant,” Harley smiled. “It does take the heat off the captain and the cook.” His eyes met hers. “Speaking of them, how do you feel about having dinner with them?”

"Why do I have a feeling this is more of an FYI, than an actual question?" Andrea asked him. She had a sneaky suspicion that he was telling her, more than asking her.

“I had a meeting earlier with the captain,” Harley explained. “And ya getting together came up and I told her I would get back to her.”

"I thought you would have said yes, I am a little surprised." Andrea said, not sure if she liked that or not. It was sweet of him to ask.

“I could have,” Harley nodded. “But it is the captain and I felt like I wanted to give you a say, not just throw it on you.”

"I appreciate that, and for the record I have no issue having dinner with you and the Captain." Andrea said, thinking it was sweet of him to ask her, despite feeling like he did not have to do that.

“Since her boyfriend is the chef I am sure we will have some good food,” Harley grinned. “And more than likely her favorite dessert.”

"I have no idea, what her favorite dessert is, this could be a cool thing to learn." Andrea said, with a warm smile on her face.

Harley decided to let the dessert be a surprise. He smiled at her. “I like it, I hope you do as well.”

"I hope so too, otherwise that might be a little awkward." Andrea said, with a nervous smile on her face.

“If you don’t we can find a way to sneak a trade,” Harley grinned. “Or I can beg it off you, I am willing to make the sacrifice.”

"Sneak a trade, and potentially upset the Captain. Ya, that's not gonna happen." Andrea pointed out to him. With a look in her eyes, that he was crazy.

“I am teasing you;” Harley admitted. “The Captain doesn’t expect you to like a dessert because it’s her favorite.”

"She does not have to expect it. Every good officer knows, to stay below the radar of command, if you want advance up the ranks." Andrea pointed out to him. She was not teasing around.

“You make an excellent point,” Harley nodded. “You are good at your job though and this is an off duty dinner.” He raised his hand. “I know the boss is always the boss but it’s dinner.”

"So that magically changes things?" Andrea asked him, with a confused look on her face.

“Probably not,” Harley said with a smile. “But I was just trying to make you feel better about it.” He paused. “I could tell them it’s not a good time if you want.” The last thing he wanted was to make her uncomfortable.

"Where are you getting that from? Of course I want to go to dinner with the captain and her boyfriend the Chef." Andrea said, wondering why he suggested that to her.

“I wanted to give you an out,” Harley said with a smile. “Don’t read too much into it, I will always consider your feelings.”

"You ask me not to read into it, after telling me you are trying to give me an out. I do not need an out. What I need is a man who will respect my wishes, and stand by me. And trust that I can handle situations. I think you have forgotten what my role is on this ship." Andrea said, a little annoyed. She did not need him looking out for her, she needed a partner. An equal to look at. To be with.

“I have not,” Harley shook his head. “I apologize, I did not mean it in any way to give you and out nor that I do not trust you to handle these things. I spring it on you and I was simply trying to consider your opinion in our relationship.” His eyes met hers. “I want an equal partnership with us and you are the strongest woman I know.”

Andrea was not sure how to respond to his comment. She was touched by the sincerity of his tone. But annyoned that he said it. But she knew she needed to give him a chance. It was one little tongue slip up. "I want us to be equals as well."

Harley was relieved she seemed to understand that he hadn’t meant it the way he had come across. “I am looking forward to the evening, I am hoping maybe we can challenge them to a game of Skipbo.”

"Skipbo? you think you keep beat me at that game?" Andrea asked, with a big grin on her face. "I don't know if you have it in you." Andrea suggested him, with a big smile on her face.

“I was thinking of you and I against them,” Harley said with a smile. “Makes the teams more even, the captain is cut throat like you are.”

"Is she now? How does she feel about loosing?" Andrea asked, with a big grin on her face.

“I don’t know,” Harley replied with a grin. “But we will find out tomorrow night.” He sat back. “She likes to win but I think she will be good about it.”

"I'll do my best to be ready. I will work on my sorry face, when I beat her at Skipbo." Andrea said, with a hint of confidence in her voice. She was trying to lighten up the mood, and hopefully get Harley to laugh.

Harley laughed at her words. “I can’t wait to see that!” He was really looking forward to their plans with the other couple.

Andrea just grinned. She was very competitive. "So have you played against her yet? How good is she?" Andrea asked, trying to get a little information on her opponent.

“I have,” Harley said with a nod. “She is in it to win it, as they say. She plays fairly but she is always thinking of the next few moves and not just the one in play.”

"I would hope we would all be in it to win it. But I will admit, maybe loosing to Captain, would not be a bad thing for my career." Andrea said, with a big teasing grin.

“I like winning as well,” Harley said with a smile. “But I don’t have that killer instinct when it comes to games.”

"Do you think I have that killer instinct?" Andrea as she looked over to Harley. She was curious to learn, what he thought of her persona and can do attitude.

“I do,” Harley nodded. “It is something I am aiming towards because I think it is an attribute that a captain must have to do their job well.”

"I'm not sure if I should be offended or flattered by that response." Andrea said, with a confused look on her face.

“It is a compliment,” Harley replied quickly. “It’s something I admire in both of you, why would it be offensive?”

"Do you see yourself, having this killer instinct?" Andrea asked, turning the question back on him.

“I think we all have the ability,” Harley said after a moment. “But some of us don’t utilize it. It’s like we all can have a bad temper, some do and some don’t.” He looked at her. “I won’t have it when it comes to games but I think in a situation on the bridge and it’s ya or them you have to be able to have one.”

"You really did not answer my question Harley." Andrea pointed out to him. Was he afraid to yes or no?

“Honestly,” Harley said after a moment. “Yes. I do. I just don’t think it has surfaced yet.”

"Thats's not a bad thing." Andrea said, with a grin. She wanted him to see it was okay, to a be a little over confident and have that killer drive, to succeed. The scene starts to fade away.

Harley smiled at her. “I needed to hear that.” He was feeling much better.
