S1, E1: Uprising
Location: Science Lab
Timeline: MD005 1300 hrs
"I was told you need assistance with re alligning the sensor array?" Chelsea asked, as she entered the science lab, and noticed Zach at his desk. She waited very little time, getting over to him. She wanted to get back to Engineering. She was annoyed that 0110 had asked J'Lenna to do this remedial task, and her boss gave it to her.
“Yes,” Zach said with a smile as he stood up. “I’m Ensign Christian. I appreciate your help.”
"So are you going to keep me guessing, or you going to point out to me, what is wrong with it." Chelesea asked. She did not want to guess, she wanted to know, what he thought was wrong with it.
“Of course,” Zach replied. “If you will come with me, we have attempted to realign it several times and it keeps failing.” It was obvious she was all business so he would keep himself the same.
Chelsea grabbed her tri corder, started to scan the device. She detected the problem almost immediately. "You need a new valve and a relay for this unit. Easy fix." Chelsea said to him, as she approached the console.
“That is good news,” Zach replied, relieved that was all it was. “At least I won’t keep you too long.”
Chelsea grinned, "I will of course have to go to the industrial replicator, and replicate those. But yes, it should not take to long." She pointed out to him.
Zach took her grin as a good sign and smiled at her. “That makes me happy, I was getting frustrated with it.”
"I can imagine, I woul hate to work with a broken console." Chelsea said, with a grin on her face. It was true, she would hate to work with a broken console. Especially in engineering.
“That is the worst nightmare,” Zach nodded in agreement. “Makes the shift go longer.”
"We can't have that, after all if your not there to talk to Miss Park, imagine who would be there?" Chelsea said, with a big grin on her face. She was letting him know, that she heard the rumors, without actually confronting him. Honestly it was not really her business.
Zach smiled. “It is amazing how fast things get out on a ship. I swear the crew knows before a couple has their first kiss.”
"On a ship, people will gossip, nothing is cherished. Do you know the Captain is dating the Chef?" Chelsea pointed out to Zach.
“Yeah,” Zach grinned. “I expect gossip I was being funny.” Maybe she was having a bad day. “The chef is really taken with her.”
"I think it goes both ways, the captain seems pretty taken by him." Chelsea pointed out to Zach. She could see it, she wondered if Zach noticed it too.
“I agree,” Zach nodded. “She is a little more reserved about it than he is. I know it’s because of her position I just noticed he makes certain he always has her favorite foods.”
"Well that goes without saying, despite the relationship. Three people on a ship you want to make sure are fed well. The captain, the doctor and the first officer." Chelsea pointed out to Zach.
“That is true,” Zach nodded. “Imagine if the doctor didn’t like you he could make a visit a very painful experience.”
"Or worse, a long dragged out one. Running tests, that he really did not need too. I have heard some horror stories." Chelsea pointed out with a big grin on her face.
“I am making a note to be good to the doctor,” Zach grinned. “I don’t avoid my physicals but I would if I thought he had been offended by me.”
"I shall do the same." Chelsea said, with a playful grin on her face. Zach was a pretty mellow and laid back guy. This was pretty cool, she thought. That pesky counselor, wanted her to reach out and make friends, well now she was doing it.
Zach grinned at her. “The first Officer is pretty cool. I wonder what his favorite meal is? He looks like a steak and potatoes man.”
"Sounds like someone wants to go on a date with the first officer." Chelsea said, seeing the opportunity and taking it.
“Oh no,” Zach grinned widely. “I am more than happy with Una. Though we are in the beginning of dating, I am not interested in men.”
"You two seem to be hitting it off." Chelsea mentioned again, this time more directly. She was curious, if he would spill the beans, so to speak.
“We are seeing where it takes us,” Zach replied. He wasn’t going to say anything that might get back to Una. Chelsea didn’t seem like a gossip but he barely knew her.
"I wish the best. I should be going now." Chelsea said, as the scene starts to fade away.
Zach watched as she left. He hoped that he ran into her with Una. Maybe they could all be friends.
