"Where almost in range of th Klingon Border, another day they tell me." Gregory said, with a big grin on his face, as he walked over to Zach Christian, at the bridge science station.

“It is kind of exciting,” Zach said with a big smile. “And at the same time a little nerving.”

"Why would you be nervous?" Gregory asked, a little surprised to hear another man say that he would be nervous, to engaging the Klingons. He expected some sort of macho style answer. It was a fresh change of pace.

“Oh I don’t know,” Zach replied. “Maybe because they live to kill, do not believe In Negotiation and pretty much believe every day is a good day to die.” He looked at Gregory. “But Regardless of all that I am still excited to be a part of this.”

"They are conquers, not killers. They love to fight sure, but not sure if I would call them killers?" Gregory said to himself, more like asking himself, if they were killers. Deep down, he did not believe they were.

“Okay maybe not killers,” Zach conceded. “But they love to battle and they seem to have no problem with killing others.”

"We had races like that back home. The Klingon's did not evolve like our society did. And because of that, we are now different. Not to long ago, other nations would attack each other, for power, control and domination. One race started world war two." Gregory pointed out to him.

“I’m not meaning to sound critical,” Zach replied. “I know we have a bloody history, I was just explaining why I felt the way I did.”

"I see, is that going to impede your ability to carry out your duties?" Gregory asked Zach. He needed to know, if Zach was going to be a liability. They did not need a liability on their hands.

Zach blinked and then looked at him with a serious look. “Not at all. I will do my duty same as always.” He thought to himself that he wasn’t commenting the next time someone asked him a question but would just reply that he is fine.

"Alright." Gregory said, feeling a little awkward at the moment. He clearly miss understood what Zach meant.

"I think I came across kind of like a Klingon hater," Zach replied. "It wasn't my intent, I was just trying to explain why I had mixed feelings. We are all here hoping for peace and I am no exception."

"Understanding each other is the goal. What will make this challenging is our dynamic cultural indifferences." Gregory said, giving him a little reprive. He appreciated the fact that Zach could see how his comment came across. Then he went on. "How we react, and how we respond is what we all need to focus on."

“That is true,” Zach nodded. “Which is when I realized that my words were not conveying my feelings I was upfront with you.”

"Where guys, expressing our feelings is not something we typically do around other guys. I think it would be safe to say, we avoid the conversation as much as possible." Gregory pointed out to him.

“True,” Zach nodded. “Sometimes in life however you find a moment when you wish you had and there is nothing you can do about the situation. It can change a man.”

"Do you find this to be one of those times?" Gregory aske,d trying to get a better understanding, on how Zach was feeling at this very moment. His tone was sincere, and his tone expressed curiosity.

“It is one of those times where I am glad I expressed my thoughts because it gave you a better understanding of who I am.” Zach replied. “Some would say I am too honest at times.”

"I was always taught that honesty is the best policy, wouldn't you agree?" Gregory asked, hoping to hear the young officer say yes!

"Oh I agree," Zach smiled. "But it wasn't the best thing to tell my Uncle Ray at his birthday party that his new haircut made him look like a penguin."

"Uncle Ray?" Gregory asked, hoping to get some more insights to who Uncle Ray is, and why he was so important to Zach.

“Yeah he was a bit eccentric,” Zach explained. “He was always inventing weird things and he dressed oddly but if it wasn’t for him I would never have joined Starfleet.”

"Sounds like a cool Uncle to me." Gregory said, knowing that most of his family was very dull, and uneventful. This Uncle Ray, sounded like a lot of fun.

“My favorite,” Zach said with a grin. “Maybe sometime you’ll get to meet him.”

"That would be pretty cool." Gregory said, as the scene starts to fade away.
