Mission: S1, E1: Uprising
Location: Holodeck One
Timeline: MD003 1700 hrs

Una was still not sure what to make of the change from Starfleet Academy to the USS Pioneer. This was her first assignment. And she had already caught the attention of Zach. She was not sure how good of an intelligence officer she was going to be. She felt a little to much attention was being shinned on her, by him.

Una was trying to tell herself, this was normal every day protocol, for a new person. There would always be hot guys, wanting to help out the new girl. She just wanted to keep a low profile. She debated, if they dated, would he stop bringing un necessary attention on her? He was attractive enough, but that was not her reasoning for considering it. She wanted to keep a low profile.

Like clock work, Zach said he would be at her door at 1700 hours. She had already reviewed his file, and tapped into his iteninary for tonight. She wondered, what they would be doing on the holodeck. Una walked over to the door, as they swished open, she said. "Hi."

“Hi,” Zach said with a smile. “I’ve been looking forward to this evening. “ He was hoping they would have a good time tonight.

"So have I, so what do you have planned out?" Una asked, hoping not drinks and sex. She wanted to be swooped off her feet first.

“How do you feel about dinner on the Riviera,” Zach said with a smile. “And then a boat ride lit by moonlight?”

"When do we leave?" Una asked, eager to get the night on with. What a romantic she thought to herself, despite having concerns about blowing her cover.

“Lets go,” Zach grinned. He was anxious to show her a night to remember. “It took careful planning on my part.”

Una was a little intrigued, how could plan something without her knowing about it? She feared she was caught up in her own worries, that she might have let her guard down. In the field, that could be dangerous, and costly.

“I had to get permission to use the holodeck which was easier than I imagined. Then planned the dinner and managed to convince everyone to keep it hush hush.” Zach smiled, proud of himself.

"I see." Una said, with a grin. Trying to hide the fact, that she was nervous, that she did not see him planning this. But then again, why would she? He was not a threat to Starfleet, he was cleared and authorized to serve on the USS Pioneer, so no reason to put up her guard. So why did it bug her so much?

“You okay?” Zach asked her. She seemed too quiet, like she was thinking hard about something.”

"Of course, just imagining what you could be planning for us tonight?" Una said, in a teasing manner. Trying to hide her insecurities.

“Let’s head to that holodeck and see,” Zach said with a grin. Suddenly his nerves were all gone and he was relaxed.

Una smiled, as she liked the idea, despite her ill feelings. She did her best to put those to the side. And focus on the moment. She had no control, over everything else.

“Dinner is Italian of course,” Zach murmured. “When in Italy, eat what the Italians do.”

"Are you Italian?" Una asked, playing along with him.

“I could be,” Zach said easily. “I should get my DNA done and see some day.” He smiled at her. “My foster mom loved to travel so I have experienced many cultures.”

"What was your favorite destination?" Una asked, trying to keep the small talk going.

Zach thought for a moment. “You are going to think it’s lame but my favorite vacation was when she took me and my foster brothers and sisters on a vacation to the beach. We went to the West Coast and stayed in a house on the beach.”

"What's lame about that? Sounds nice." Una asked, a little surprise at his response. Why would he think, she thought that would be lame?

“Most people would choose an exotic place,” Zach explained. “I chose a time when I was happy and I felt like I was part of a family.”

"Nothing is more exotic than personal happiness." Una said, having a struggle believing that herself.

“For some of us it has been rare,” Zach replied. “I believe we appreciate it more that way.”

"How tragic." Una said, with a confused look on her face, it was all an act. She was hiding her humor behind it. Her defenses started to break, and she giggled.

Zach looked over at her and smiled. He couldn’t help it, her happiness was contagious. “What’s so funny?”

"Sorry, but I can't help it. Happiness should not be rare. Happiness is within all of us to achieve." Una pointed out to him.

“You are right,” Zach nodded. “And I am happy now but back then I was a scared kid going from place to place.”

"I can understand why. A lot for a little guy to go through. But you turned into a good man." Una suggested to him. She barely knew him, but what she knew, he appeared to be a good man.

“Thanks,” Zach said quietly. “It is because of some good people guiding me and my determination to have a good life.” He smiled at her. “Tell me about your childhood.”

"Not much to say, had an average childhood, nothing out of the ordinary. Had good parents. Got decent grades." Una suggested to him. Trying to make it sound mundane and boring. So they would move on from the topic of her.

Zach smiled, thinking to himself that their was nothing ordinary about her. Still, if she didn’t want to talk about it he would respect that. “Sounds like you had a good life.” Zach smiled as they walked towards the holodeck. “You ready?”

"Let's do this." Una said, as the scene starts to fade away.
